About HYPER
Hyperlane (HYP) is the native token of the Hyperlane Protocol — an open, permissionless interoperability layer that connects blockchains through sovereign, modular messaging. Hyperlane enables developers to build cross-chain applications (xApps) that can send arbitrary messages between blockchains securely and easily. Unlike traditional bridges, Hyperlane gives developers the flexibility to customize their own security models using its Sovereign Consensus framework. This modular approach allows each chain or application to determine how it wants to verify and secure cross-chain messages, enabling trust assumptions tailored to specific needs. Hyperlane’s key components include mailboxes for message transmission, validators (known as Interchain Security Modules or ISMs) for security customization, and routers for managing message routing across chains. By offering an open framework, Hyperlane supports truly decentralized cross-chain communication without relying on centralized middlemen. HYP is used within the Hyperlane ecosystem for staking, incentivizing validators, paying for interchain messaging services, and participating in governance decisions. The token helps secure the network while aligning incentives across chains and developers. Hyperlane is live across several major blockchains and is rapidly expanding to support more Layer 1s, Layer 2s, and appchains, offering a critical piece of infrastructure for the modular, multichain future of Web3.

Frequently Asked Questions about Hyperlane
What is Hyperlane?
Hyperlane is a permissionless interoperability protocol that allows developers to build secure, customizable cross-chain applications (xApps) without relying on centralized bridges.
Where can I buy HYP tokens?
HYP tokens can be purchased on major centralized exchanges, including Binance, Bybit, MEXC, Gate.io, and BitMart. Decentralized trading platform options include Uniswap, PancakeSwap, and Aerodrome.
Where can I store HYP tokens?
HYP is a token on multiple EVM networks and can be stored in EVM-compatible wallets like Bitcoin.com Wallet, MetaMask, Rainbow, Ledger, and Trust Wallet, based on the underlying blockchain.
What is the HYP token used for?
HYP is used for staking, paying for interchain messaging, securing cross-chain transactions, and participating in the Hyperlane protocol governance.
What makes Hyperlane different from traditional blockchain bridges?
Hyperlane allows developers to define their own security models through Sovereign Consensus, giving greater flexibility and reducing reliance on centralized entities.
What are Interchain Security Modules (ISMs)?
ISMs are customizable security components in Hyperlane that allow applications and chains to define how they validate cross-chain messages according to their specific trust assumptions.
Is Hyperlane permissioned?
No. Hyperlane is fully permissionless. Any developer can use its protocol to deploy cross-chain applications without needing approval.
Which blockchains does Hyperlane support?
Hyperlane supports a growing list of blockchains, including major Layer 1s, Layer 2s, and appchains. The protocol is designed to be chain-agnostic.
Can developers build dApps directly on Hyperlane?
Yes. Developers can build xApps (cross-chain applications) using Hyperlane’s messaging framework, enabling interoperability across multiple chains.
Who governs Hyperlane?
Governance of Hyperlane is decentralized and involves HYP token holders who can propose and vote on upgrades, parameter changes, and protocol initiatives.
