Bio Protocol (BIO) is a decentralized financial layer designed to accelerate the flow of capital and talent into on-chain science, revolutionizing the way scientific research is funded and conducted. Created to support the growth of community-owned scientific research networks (bioDAOs), Bio Protocol enables the creation of deep, liquid, and efficient markets for scientific IP and data. By leveraging a decentralized blockchain, Bio Protocol ensures transparent, secure, and community-driven decision-making, allowing users to participate in the development and funding of cutting-edge scientific research. With its unique tokenomics and governance model, Bio Protocol empowers bioDAOs to raise funds, create liquidity, and commercialize scientific IP, making it an attractive platform for researchers, investors, and individuals passionate about advancing scientific knowledge. As a leading platform in the decentralized science (DeSci) ecosystem, Bio Protocol is poised to transform the way scientific research is conducted, funded, and commercialized, offering a new paradigm for innovation and discovery.
Bio Protocol (BIO) is a decentralized financial layer designed to accelerate the flow of capital and talent into on-chain science. It aims to create a new economy of scientific communities (bioDAOs) and facilitate the development of deep, liquid, and efficient markets for scientific IP.
BioDAOs are community-owned scientific research networks that focus on a specific scientific or medical area. They use the power of a globally distributed collective of stakeholders to accelerate the R&D process and develop new IP. BioDAOs raise funding via token sales and use their treasuries to back and develop biotech projects related to their mission.
The Bio Protocol has several goals, including the curation, creation, and acceleration of new bioDAOs, perpetual funding and liquidity for bioDAOs and on-chain biotech assets, standardization of bioDAO frameworks, tokenomics, and data/product suites, and the generation and commercialization of scientific IP and data.
The Bio Protocol operates through five core operations: curation, funding, liquidity, bio/acc rewards, and meta-governance. These operations work together to create a decentralized platform for the development and funding of scientific research.
The BIO token is the native governance token of the Bio Protocol. It can be used for curation, voting on future BIO issuance or distribution, and implementing accelerator programs for the development of the network. The BIO token provides holders with access to governance rights in network bioDAOs, early bioDAO funding rounds, financial rewards for health data contributions and clinical trial participation, and new health products funded by bioDAOs.
IP Tokens (IPTs) represent fractional governance rights over the intellectual property (IP) generated by bioDAOs. They give holders the opportunity to participate directly in the development, decision-making, and future directions of the research. IPT holders benefit from governance rights, access to exclusive information, and early access and benefits, but do not entitle holders to guaranteed financial returns or revenue sharing from the commercialization of these assets.
The BIO Launchpad is a platform that allows the BIO community to decide which DAOs to support and receive funding and liquidity. It has three distinct phases: curation, acceleration, and separation. The launchpad provides a mechanism for bioDAOs to raise funds, create liquidity, and migrate to an automated market maker (AMM).
The BIO Launchpad works through a three-phase process. In the curation phase, users signal their support for a bioDAO by staking BIO tokens. In the acceleration phase, the bioDAO raises funds through a bonding curve or auction sale. In the separation phase, the bioDAO graduates from the sale phase and becomes freely tradable via an AMM.
The Bio Protocol offers several benefits, including the acceleration of scientific research, the creation of a decentralized platform for funding and liquidity, and the generation and commercialization of scientific IP and data. It also provides a mechanism for community involvement in scientific research and decision-making.
The Bio Protocol has the potential to revolutionize the way scientific research is funded and conducted. However, as with any investment, it's essential to conduct thorough research and consider the risks involved. The Bio Protocol is a decentralized platform, and its success depends on the adoption and participation of the community.
